Staff Sergeant Todd H. Wilkes

todd_wilkesI am a native of Austin, TX.  I started running and biking from a very early age and have always loved it. In High School I was a member of the Cross Country Running Team where we won the State Championship in Cross Country. I entered active duty on 15 July 2008 and completed my OSUT at Fort Benning, Georgia where I became an 11B Infantryman.

My duty assignments have included A co. 3/69 Armored Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. A co. 2/5 Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, and Patchogue Army Recruiting Center, NYC BN.

I have performed duties as a Rifleman, SAW Gunner, Bradley Driver, Team-Leader, Unit Armor, UPL, Range Safety NCO, and Detailed Recruiter.

I also have completed WLC, ALC, Combat Life Savers Course, Unit Prevention Leaders Course, Unit Armorer Course, Combatives Level 1 and 2, Field Sanitation Certificate, and the Army Recruiter Course.

I am currently pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Management from Post University.

My awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (with Double Knot), National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 2 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2).

I was also awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Basic Recruiter Badge.

I joined Airborne Tri Team because I feel like helping soldiers in need is just another way I can help my fellow Veterans. Getting together in a team environment simulates the “team” feeling that the military provides. Even if someone is not in the Armed Forces anymore, they are not alone. Us battle buddies are always there to have each others back and help each other in any situation. The motivation needed to complete these arduous races and triathlons is best when it comes from someone who is a fellow Veteran. I am whole-heartedly there to support my brothers and sisters in arms at any time, any place. We are a team, TEAM AIRBORNE!
